Erma James, a life long resident of Leedey, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2007. Erma was born July 13, 1917 to Charles and Nettie Rose, at Leedey. She was 89 years old at the time of her death. Erma married Robert James in Hammon, Oklahoma on April 22, 1938 and gave birth to her only child, Freddy Roy James on July 26, 1939. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert James in 1948, her son Freddy Roy James in 1985, five of her six sisters, Alice Clark, Edith Fisk, Della Salter, Annis Jones and Lena Jones and her two brothers, Earl Rose and Frank Rose.

Erma was a valued employee of the First National Bank of Leedey for over thirty-five years until her retirement in the late 1980's. She served as Leedey City Treasurer from 1962 to 1985. Erma enjoyed gardening, crocheting and nurturing animals. She was actively involved in volunteer programs including the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, the Seven County Retired & Senior volunteer Program and Meals on Wheels. While her health allowed, Erma was an active volunteer at the Leedey Senior Citizens' Center and a devoted member of the Leedey Church of Christ. Erma was a true "Lady" in every sense of the word.

Erma leaves behind one sister, Ellaree Norman, numerous nieces, nephews and friends, who truly adored and admired this beautiful, loving and remarkable lady.
