Ester Mary
Stout
August 3, 1915 – June 24, 2020
Manaw gained her wings on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the age of 104 in Shattuck, Oklahoma.
Ester Mary Stout was born in Peek, Oklahoma near the South Canadian River to Virgil Harrison and Meta Sophie Magdlene Inselman Williams on August 3, 1915.
Ester spent her younger years attending the Lone Bell School with her four siblings, Herschel, Frances (Frankie), Cecil (Buddy), and Ivan (Bub). The children later attended school in Arnett when the family moved southwest of town. While riding the school bus, Ester met her handsome blue-eyed man, K.D. Stout. They were married in Woodward, Oklahoma on October 4, 1934.
In 1935, Kenneth (K.D.) and Ester purchased their farm southwest of Arnett where they resided for seventy years. They were blessed with two children, Donald Eugene, (Don) and Carole Jean, (Sissy).
Ester's passions in life were sewing, quilting, gardening, canning, and cooking. Her family knew her best as an exceptional seamstress. She fashioned wedding gowns, prom dresses, western wear, doll clothes and wardrobes for her grandchildren. Quilting became her favorite pastime and she designed these with her family in mind gifting many of her favorites. She received numerous purple and blue ribbons at the county and state fairs. In her later years, her beautiful agile hands were always busy either crocheting or crafting rugs.
Ester's greatest joy came from her family. She could always be found in attendance at their livestock shows, piano and dance recitals, 4-H activities, and sporting events. She was truly their biggest fan.
She was honored for her valuable work among members and leaders with a 4-H Distinguished Service Award. K.D. and Ester received and FFA Honorary Chapter Farmer Award for their support of the members of the 1979 Arnett FFA Chapter.
Ester was preceded in death by her husband, K.D., son Don, grandson, Reed, son-in-law, Donald Kelln, and grandson-in-law, Randy Woolbright.
