Evelyn Maxine Hamar was born January 24, 1925, the youngest child of Ival and Ethel (Dickey) Gore. She was reared in Lenora, Oklahoma with her brothers, Cary and Clay, and her sister Mabel. She was one part of a very caring and loving family that was always full of life and happiness.

Evelyn was a young bride of seventeen when she was united in marriage to Penn Hamar on February 7, 1942 in Britton, Oklahoma. This was a very loving marriage of 37 years until Penn's death in 1979. This union was blessed with three children, Jerald Penn, Ruth Ann, and Iva Maxine. Evelyn raised her family to have the same loving and caring values that she was raised with and that created another loving home.

She loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Each one had their own special place in her heart. Christmas and birthdays were always special at Grandma's.

She was baptized at an early age and was a long time member of the Taloga First Christian Church.

Some of Evelyn's fondest memories and friends came from being a farmer's wife and harvesting with family and friends, her years of working at the Dewey County Clerk's office, serving the Town of Taloga as City Clerk, being a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over fifty years, helping the Willing Workers of the First Christian Church, and proudly being a part of the Taloga Senior Citizens.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Penn; parents, Ival and Ethel Gore; sister, Mabel Squires; brothers, Cary and Clay Gore; and grandson-in-law, Derek Terrian.

Those left to cherish her memory are son, Jerald Hamar and wife Vida of Hydro, OK; daughters, Ruth Ann Barron and husband Daniel of Taloga, OK and Iva Phillips and husband Bill of Sharon, OK; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, Pendra and Terry Cook and Kason of Hydro, OK, Dawn and Dan Webber and Joseph, Matthew, Andrew, and Daniel of Oklahoma City, OK, Deana and Rob Burritt and Jared of Jackson, MI, Debbie Terrian and London of Tulsa, OK, Debbie Frazier and Heather, Ashlee, and Kelsi of Mustang, OK, Dr. Barbie Phillips and Bob Cardine of Fargo, OK, Jill and Chris Syms and Raelyn of Sharon, OK, sister-in-law, Sylvia Gore of Talgoa, OK; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
