Floyd Everett Clem was born August 24, 1937 near Leedey, Oklahoma to Orra L. (Dixon) and Remus Day Clem. He was the 2nd son, and being just 14 months younger than his brother Sonnie, he had a constant companion growing up. They did almost everything together. His folks were also raising two aunts and an uncle. Floyd passed from this life on April 2, 2012 at his home near Yukon, Oklahoma. He was 74 at the time of his passing.
Floyd's early years were spent on a farm in the Shirley community and in Leedey. He attended his first four years of school at Liberty Center and continued his education at Leedey, graduating in 1955. After graduation, Floyd went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad working as a machine operator for his uncle, Bill Moler. Some of the places he worked were Woodward and Mooreland, Oklahoma, also Borger and Panhandle, Texas. He lived in Borger some of that time. Floyd married Jamie Gilbert and they had two children, Mark Everett and Janise. In 1961 Floyd moved his family to Oklahoma City, where he owned and operated a mechanic shop.
Floyd's interests were water skiing, fishing, speed boat and stock car racing, also flying planes. He liked anything with motors and loved to tinker with them. He had many adventures with these hobbies, some successful and others disasters. In 1968, he moved back to Leedey to help his dad farm. He married Pasty Finch and they had a son, Jon Michael. Floyd took over the farming/ranching operations in 1972, when his dad passed away. It was then that he moved to the farm house that had been home to his great-granddad, granddad, grandmother, and his parents.
Among his happiest memories was when any of the grandchildren would come out to the farm and help him. In 1998, the farm was declared an "Oklahoma Centennial Farm". It has been owned by a Clem for over 100 years. In 1985, Floyd marred Sue Christian in Las Vegas, Nevada. Since their marriage they have enjoyed traveling many places.
