Obituary

Francis Lee Spake, son of Cordy Spake and Agnes Parry Spake, was born on April 1,1936. He passed away July 27, 2012 at the age of 76. Francis, along with his 5
siblings, attended school in the Vici area. Francis was proud to join the U.S. Air Force,
and relocated to California. Upon completion of his commitment to the Air Force,
Francis wed his high school sweetheart, Alice Noyes Cox. The couple married on
September 13, 1955, and celebrated 50 years together. Their union produced 4
children; Loretta, William, Rickey, and Leann. Francis and his family returned to the
Woodward area, where he quickly became a well known and respected worker in the oil
field and transport industry. He was employed for 32 years by J & R Transport, and
continued to utilize his experience at Woodward disposal until succumbing to illness. Francis enjoyed music, and spent many hours displaying his talents
with a variety of instruments. Performing with friends,
family members, or attending dances and bluegrass festivals, music was a constant
form of enjoyment to him. Also, many a gloomy fall day was made brighter while spent hunting
with family and friends, even if the bounty was "MISSED IT BY THAT MUCH." If ever a friend or neighbor needed a favor, they could count on Francis. This kindness was extended to strangers as well, should he see a car on the side of the road. Francis was a loving soul, and cared for his wife during the last years of her life. Time
spent with his children and grand children, as well as his great granddaughter would
always result in that wide grin we shall all miss. Francis is survived by 3 children, Loretta Coffey, and spouse Roger of Las Vegas , NV, Rick Spake of Charleston, SC and Leann, of Fargo, OK, 5 grand children, Billie Cunningham, of Las Vegas, NV, Stetson Pierce, Krystan Pierce, Jamie Shawn, and Dalton Shawn, of Fargo, OK, 1
great granddaughter, Rylee Dukes, of Las Vegas, NV, brother Lynn and his wife Mary Ann, of Vici, OK, sister Reta Hunter
of Woodward, OK, as well as, many nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and many friends who held a special place in his
heart. In lieu of flowers and acts of condolence, Francis requests donations be
made to Woodward Hospice and Home Health .
