Franklin Miles Nine, son of Frank and Martha Pigman Nine, passed peacefully from this life on October 9, 2010 at the age of 98. Frank was born February 29, 1912 on the family farm northwest of Gage, Oklahoma. His elementary years were spent attending a local country grade school and he went on to attend Gage High School graduating with the Class of 1930. On August 1, 1933 Frank was united in marriage to Miss Frances Lucile Fiegel at Woodward, Oklahoma. Their family quickly grew with the addition of their five children; Carol, Darlene, Ralph, Francis, and Deborah. Frank and Lucile traveled to California in 1935 and stayed just a few months before moving to a farm near Emporia, Kansas. They moved from Emporia to Oklahoma City where they stayed for a year. They returned to Ellis County, north of Gage, where they farmed and ranched until their retirement. Frank enjoyed playing Pitch and spending time with friends and family. He loved to have his children and grandchildren visit him at the farm and made many special memories for them by telling stories of times gone by. He would talk about traveling by horse and wagon, plowing fields with horses, and playing with the Indian children on the river in southeast Kansas. He shared his experience of Black Sunday and how the family took cover from the dust storm. Frank had a keen eye and affection for old cars and farm equipment and could tell at a glance what year and model they were. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica. Frank was a longtime and faithful member of the First Methodist Church of Gage, where he was baptized. Preceding him in death were his beloved wife, Frances; son, Ralph Nine; parents, Frank and Martha Nine; sons-in-law, Vernon Richardson and Jimmie Moon; daughter-in-law, Violet Nine; and siblings, Grace Borthick, Mabel Johnson, Mary Mills, Ben Nine, Golda Casey and Floyd Nine.
