Obituary

Freddie Gordon Morris was born January 19, 1935 to John & Fay (Greer) Morris near Webb, OK. He was the 8th of 10 children. He passed from this life on May 16, 2019 at the age of 84 years, 3 months & 27 days, at his home in Vici, surrounded by family & brethren.
His family lived in the Webb area where he attended Long Creek school until the family relocated to Homestead, OK where he continued his education and graduated from Homestead High School in 1953 He proudly received the honor of being named Valedictorian out of his class of three. He frequently joked that he wasn't the smartest guy but he was the smartest guy there! Because of having an elderly father, Freddie learned at a young age to be an extremely hard working, kind, & self- sufficient young man. Due to the fact that his dad didn't drive he would sometimes ride his bike 14 miles from Homestead to Fairview to take care of things that needed done.
Freddie was baptized into the General Assembly & Church of the Firstborn at Vici Sept. 9, 1953 by Bro. Judd Poulson. Living the Faith was always top priority for Freddie.
A dark haired beauty from Vici caught Freddie's eye & he began dating the love of his life, Luella Lucielle Goodman. When he decided to propose he headed to Vici via Fairview & stopped at the jewelry store there. He bought a ring with the guarantee that if she said no he could return it! Needless to say, that wasn't necessary. It stayed on her finger until he updated it with a new one on their 35th anniversary. They were married on September 11, 1955 by Bro Judd. This was the beginning of their journey of 61 years, 7 months & 2 days of marriage.
To this marriage 3 children were born, Owen Deon, Wilda Diane, and Karen Sue.
After living in Homestead, Oklahoma City, Seiling & Taloga, the family settled in Vici in 1966.
Freddie enjoyed gardening & loved sharing the abundance with his brethren & friends. Even last summer as his health was failing he hand turned his entire garden.
From his youth Freddie always had an admiration for Diamond T trucks. After his family was raised he began his quest of looking for one to restore. Eventually he found just the right one & was able to have it restored into the beautiful red truck of his dreams. He thoroughly enjoyed getting to take it to several car shows & visiting with each & every person who walked by to admire it.
Although Freddie worked at many jobs through the years he often said that the day he started working as a partsman was the day he quit "working" for a living.
In 1983 Freddie was ordained as an elder in the Vici Church of the Firstborn. He took this office very seriously & serving the brethren came before anything else.
In 1984 God allowed Freddie the opportunity to open his own business, Morris Automotive, which allowed him the ability to be readily available when the brethren needed him at a moment's notice. When he unlocked the doors of a morning he made a practice of getting down & praying & asking God to bless him in this endeavor. The parts store/repair shop was located in the former Pierson Chevrolet building where he had been employed as a partsman & car salesman for many years. His skill & talent as well as his personality, honesty & remarkable memory was appreciated by local customers as well as many others who traveled miles just to do business with him.
In 1998 Freddie sold his business & retired. This allowed him & Luella to be able to spend countless hours visiting the brethren, caring for the sick & showing hospitality to home brethren, visitors & strangers. There was never any doubt about Freddie's love for God's people. Even after his health failed him & he was no longer able to be out & about he still showed much care & concern for the flock & shared many words of wisdom until his death. He continued to be a great example of uncomplaining faith even when his affliction became so grievous. He often said, "This is nothing compared to hanging on a cross. If Jesus could do that for me, I can endure this for him."
Freddie is survived by his son, Owen & wife Gladys of Perkins, daughters, Wilda Nichols & husband Jim of Tulsa, Karen Burson of Welling, and a very special niece, Sonja Gregory, of Vici, who was his bonus daughter.
