Obituary

Garry Clayon Bryant and his twin brother Larry Cleon was born October 23, 1938 on the family farm near Bloomfield, Oklahoma to Marion Leo and Ava Josie (Kelly) Bryant. He tragically passed from this life on January 23, 2010 at the age of 71. His twin brother Larry passed away in infancy. Garry attended school at Bloomfield for a couple of years. The family then moved to the Patkowski place east of Camargo, Oklahoma where Garry attended school and graduated in 1956. He attended two years at Stillwater College, but decided to attend Oklmulgee Vo Tech School graduating with the highest honor in his Auto Mechanics class.

Garry married Reta Joan Harper November 14, 1959 at Woodward First Christian in the study room. After Garry graduated from Okmulgee Vo Tech School in December, 1960, the couple made their home in Hugoton, Kansas, where Garry worked as an auto mechanic for Broaddus Chevrolet Company. The couple was blessed with two sons, Terry Wayne and Kevin Leroy.

After 8 ½ years in Hugoton, Garry decided he wanted to move back to Camargo. He was a partner in his parent's family farm. They custom combined, farmed, ranched, had irrigation systems and feed lots. Each partner had a job to do and Garry's was farming and irrigation systems. He and Joan also helped custom cut. After a few years, the partnership dissolved and the couple began farming and ranching on their own. They raised cattle and wheat and were always trying to improve the farming ground and pastures.

Garry served on Camargo school board for 10 years, Rural Water District #3 for 24 years and Dewey County Farm Bureau board for 30 years. In October, 2002, he was elected chairman of Prescription Fire Burn Organization.

Garry was baptized in 1965 in the Hugoton Church of Christ where he attended. He attended the Vici Church of Christ and was involved in the activities of the church where he helped pass communion at the Vici Nursing Home and also kept the church books. In his spare time, Garry enjoyed tinkering with everything from cars to tractor equipment and anything else he could find. Most of all, Garry enjoyed spending time with his family.

Those preceding Garry in death are his parents, Marion and Ava Bryant, sister Marjorie Harding, grandson Dustin Bryant, and granddaughter Erin Suchy. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Reta Joan Bryant of Camargo, Oklahoma; sons Terry Wayne Bryant and wife Robin of Camargo, Oklahoma and Kevin Leroy Bryant and wife Jodi of China Springs, Texas; granddaughters, Laura Sissom and husband Chase of Kremlin, Oklahoma, Erika Bryant and fiancé Nate Quinn of Sayre, Oklahoma, Heather Bryant and special friend, Roxy Spencer of Vici, Oklahoma; grandsons, Brandon Bryant of Camargo, Oklahoma, Dakota Bryant and Kelby Bryant of China Springs, Texas; grandson-in-law James Suchy of Key West, Florida; great-granddaughter's Paiton Quinn and Rien Sissom; great-grandson Cameron Ray Spencer; brothers, Bill Bryant and wife Darlene and family and Donald Bryant and wife Elin and family; brother-in-law, Gary Harding and family; by several nieces, nephews, other family members and a lifetime of friends.
