Obituary

Gary Lynn Ladd was born on June 16, 1949, in Vici, Oklahoma, the youngest of six children to Lloyd Cecil and Ilo Elizabeth (Helmick) Ladd. He passed from this life April 24, 2024 at the age of 74. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to his caregivers and Integris Health in Woodward, Oklahoma.

Gary spent his childhood in the Vici community, where he attended Vici Public Schools before completing his formal education at Woodward Public Schools. In 1968, he married Carolyn Goins, and together they welcomed two children, Brett and Chandra. Gary was an electrician by trade and worked for many years in the oilfield industry, where he became known for his hard work and reliability.

In 1984, Gary met Rita Denton, with whom he shared many years, marrying in the year 2000. Gary embraced Rita's children as his own, and he cherished the time spent with his family. Gary was a member of the National Rifle Association and had a special bond with his chihuahua companions, Big Joe and Little Joe.  An avid outdoorsman, Gary loved fishing, hunting, and camping, especially at Fort Supply, Red River, and a memorable trip to Minnesota. His favorite holidays included the 4th of July, Christmas, and Halloween, when he delighted in handing out big candy bars to the neighborhood trick-or-treaters.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ilo Ladd, his son, Brett Ladd, and his siblings: Myra Nebhut and her husband Carl, Marvin Ladd and his wife Marty, Nada Beth Rowland, Leona Newman and her husband Jim, and Linda Hill and other loved ones.

Gary is survived by his significant other, Rita Malone, of Weatherford, Oklahoma; his daughter Chandra Angelove; his grandchildren Sage, Simeon, and Charlie Angelove of Yukon, Oklahoma; his stepchildren Tisha Burnside, Brad Mussman, Rodney Mussman, Jeff Mussman, and Georganna Buss; his brother-in-law Paul Hill; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to WOOF Pet Rescue or Sunnyside Cemetery.
