Gary Lee Shryock was born on 10/27/1945 in Mooreland, OK to Eleanor and Ivan Shryock. He and his two sisters, Cheryl Volosin and Donnes Satterfield, attended school in Mutual. After finishing high school, he attended Northwestern Oklahoma State College where he met Joy Lea Pirtle. The two were wed on August 23rd, 1964 and had two boys, Stacy Lee Shryock and James Bradley Shryock, the family was completed with the addition of a daughter, Shawna Lee Shryock-Elwood. Gary continued his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and obtained his Masters degree in Guidance and Counseling in May of 1992.

Gary was very active in his community. He was a founding member of the Mutual Volunteer Fire Department and was especially proud to be part of the American Ag Movement as a farmer and rancher. He was passionate about education; he served as an educator at Sharon-Mutual, Gage, and Guymon public schools, was an important member of the school board, and a football coach. Gary was also a devoted man of God; he was an active church member, served on the church board, and became the Pastor at Morning Star United Methodist church in August of 1999.

Gary married Camille Maurer on June 5th, 2007, and they lived happily until his passing on May 1, 2021 at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 5 days.  He is preceded in death by his parents and other loved ones and survived by his wife, Camille; son Stacy Shryock and wife Heather of Mutual; son Bradley Shryock and wife Dustie of Mutual; daughter Shawna Elwood and husband Brandon of Mutual; grandson Dalton Shryock and wife Vivian of Sharon; granddaughter Kelsey Bates and husband Tim of Mutual; granddaughter Kadie Kline and husband Logan of Woodward; granddaughter Ashlee Pilcher and husband Brett of Stillwater; grandson Marshall Rylee Shryock of Woodward; granddaughter Kylee Elwood of Mutual; granddaughter Caton Elwood of Mutual; 6 great grandchildren; one niece and three nephews; and other cousins and friends.
