Obituary

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Bobby "Gene" Collier was born in Oklahoma City, OK on May 22, 1928, to Lola Otella Barnett and Marion Monroe Collier, he was one of four children. He passed from this life on August 15, 2021, at the age of 93.

At the age of seven he moved to El Monte, CA with his family, where he grew up, went to school and graduated from high school in 1946.

Going into the army in June of 1948, Gene served in the Korean war as a cook. After getting out and coming home to El Monte, he went to work for his stepfather driving a dump truck and heavy equipment. He met his true and loving partner in life, Elizabeth Stevenson and they were married on June 8, 1952. To this marriage three children were born, Meredithe, Sheldon and Philip.

After now having a family, Gene went on to sell International Harvester trucks and equipment, life insurance and in 1969 they moved to Flagstaff, AZ where he sold cars. Always building with his hands, he moved to Kingman, AZ, changing his trade to boot repairman. He and Betty ran the business and also started building and remodeling homes. This led them to Meteor Crater, AZ where Gene supervised the construction of an RV park, convenience store and gas station. They worked for ten years until retiring to Show Low, AZ on the golf course across from the 2 nd hole. Golf was his second love of life, which he passed on to his grandson.

In 1997 they found their way back to Oklahoma where he and Betty settled in Shattuck, OK and lived out their remaining years together. He continued to build by adding on to the house and garage. They were proud to be living in a house that was a part of Shattuck history. He also bought houses and fixed them up for family members. He was always there to support his family in many ways.

He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother and two sisters and in-laws, two grandsons, Philip Richmond III and Clayton Collier.

Gene leaves behind a family of love, Meredithe & Tom Dearing of Arnett; Sheldon Collier of Shattuck; Philip & Sara Collier of Show Low, AZ; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He served his country and his family with love and support in everything he did from cooking to construction. He will always be a part of us.
