Gene Elbert Haney, 77-year-old resident of Lubbock, TX, passed from this life on March 20, 2018.  He was born on September 5, 1940 to Arthur Frank and Dora Gayle (Broadbent) Haney in Moorewood, OK.  Gene attended elementary schools in Castus, TX and Borger, TX.  Gene joined the United States Army on January 16, 1959.  He was honorably discharged on March 22, 1962, attaining the rank of Private E-2.

Gene was married to Jean Sandavol in Buena Vista, CO and to this union Clarence Wayne and Brenda Renee was born.  At the age of 30, Gene had a debilitating heart condition resulting in open heart surgery and him becoming disabled.   He lived in many cities in Texas including Borger, Amarillo, and lastly Lubbock.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Gayle Haney; sister Patricia Williams; and brothers-in -law LeRoy Kinkead and Buddy Castle.  He is survived by his son, Clarence Haney; daughter Brenda Renee Yeatman; granddaughters Jennifer Johanson, Destiny Haney, and Brittany King; grandson Jamie Haney; sisters Carol Castle and Dorothy Kinkead; aunt Fay Kauk; 8 great-grandchildren;  many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
