Longtime resident of Arnett, OK, Geneva Lee (Tyler) Clem passed away early Friday morning, September 7, 2018 at the Shattuck Nursing Home. Geneva was 94 years, 5 months, and 12 days of age. She was born on her family farm northwest of Arnett, OK on March 26, 1924 to Arley and Esta Farris Boyd. Geneva was raised in Arnett attending Arnett Public Schools and graduating in 1942 . Shortly after graduation, Geneva married Chet Eastham. Chet died a short time later while serving his country in the Philippines. During this period, Geneva went to Wichita Business School in Wichita, KS.
Geneva then married Charles L. Tyler on September 14, 1946 . They made their home in Chanute, KS and moved back to the farm in Arnett in May of 1960. This union was blessed with three daughters Charlene, Judy, and Lynda. Charles died on December 31, 1985. After Charles' death she reunited with an old high school classmate, Bill Clem. They were married and made their home in Woodward, OK. Bill became sick and passed in May of 1996. Geneva returned to Arnett.
Geneva worked as a secretary for the Ellis County Abstract Office and the Probation and Parole Offices of Arnett and Enid. She also worked as Clarence Dodd's secretary and later worked as a volunteer at the Arnett Public Schools as a teacher assistant. Geneva was an avid reader, loved watching birds and fishing and boating while at their home on Foss Lake. Time with grandchildren and family were the best! She was a member of the Card Players of Arnett every Saturday night. She served many hours with the United Methodist Women and was very active in the "Handy Home Club" (Sewing Club).
Geneva was baptized at an early age and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Arnett.
She is preceded in death by three husbands, Chet Eastham, Charles Tyler, and Bill Clem, two daughters Judy Chesnut and Lynda White, son-in-law Wayne White, grandson Christopher Chesnut, sister Anna Faye Ashpaugh and husband Floyd Ashpaugh, and brother Lloyd Boyd.
Geneva is survived by daughter Charlene Knowles and husband Kenny of Arnett, OK; sister Georgia Davis of Arnett, OK; son-in-law Steve Chesnut of Medicine Park, OK; sister-in-law Flossie Smith of Arnett, OK; six grandsons, David White and wife Chrystal of Canyon, TX, Bryan White and wife Rhonda of Yukon, OK, Greg White and wife Deana of Oklahoma City, OK, Spence Chesnut and wife Lisa of Mustang, OK, Rodney Knowles and wife Lesley of Mustang, OK, and Brandon Knowles and wife Shala of Arnett, OK; 12 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; one aunt; several nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
