George Alan Buddy Burns went to be with our awesome God on March 17, 2008 at his home in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born March 2, 1936 in Dallas, TX. He attended school at Central High and furthered his education at the University of Oklahoma and at Oklahoma State University.
Buddy married Tammie Gibson, the love of his life, on January 26, 1980 at Irving, TX. Buddy was blessed raising all the children from past marriage and his son and daughter: Miki, Cris, Sheryl, Angela, Buff, and Patrick. Buddy's favorite pastime was spending quality time with his family and friends. Buddy was baptized at a young age and was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
Buddy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. on September 24, 1952. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged on September 23, 1955.
Buddy loved serving the Oklahoma City community as a police officer. He was a member of several organizations, including the Fraternal Order of Police, Oklahoma Gang Investigators, Shriners, Oklahoma Investigators Association, and the Retired Oklahoma City Police Officers.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Sheryl Thomas and Angela Burns. He is survived by his wife of the home in Oklahoma City, Tammie; daughters, Miki Burns, Cris Cox, and Buff Spivey all of Oklahoma City; son Patrick Plumlee of Lawton, OK; mother-in-law Johnnie Tolleson and step father-in-law Tommy Thomas of Oklahoma City; father-in-law Johnny Gibson of Prague, OK; brother-in-law John Wayne Gibson of Prague, OK; sister-in-law Kandy Hill and brother-in-law Chuck Hill of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, other family and a host of friends.
