Heaton, Gleeola Gail, 93, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021 in Kokomo, IN. She was born on September 22, 1927, at her grandparents Reisdorph Hotel in Camargo, OK. She was spoiled by her grandmother and all of the guests at the hotel. She spent her early childhood years at the family farm in Quinlan, OK, where she graduated high school from in 1945. In the fall of 1945, she married Ivan Leroy "Bud" Heaton, and they had 5 children together. Twin boys born in 1945 named Jimmy and Timmy that died at birth; Ivan Lee born in 1948 that died in 1950; Connie Sue born in 1951 and Cecil Wayne born in 1954.
Gleeola lived a full life of service to God, family, friends and anyone in need. She loved collecting dolls and would display hundreds of them at Christmas to showcase to friends and even learned how make porcelain dolls. Sewing, knitting, and crocheting were also things Gleeola enjoyed. She was famous for her homemade coconut cream, chocolate cream and pecan pies at church and with her family. Knob Hill Baptist Church was her home church for many years where she taught knitting classes, helped with community projects and worked in the baby room on Sundays. Being around babies brought her the most joy. She had a love of music and taught piano for many years out of her home. After Bud passed, she would travel with her sister in law, Evelyn Reisdorph, with the Pioneers from SW Bell.
She was a true red head full of spunk and orneriness, but also kind hearted and empathetic. She will be greatly missed. Gleeola is survived by her two children; daughter, Connie Updegraff and husband Dan; son, Cecil Heaton and his wife Sherry. Six grandchildren; Eric, John, Amy, Jennifer, Deanna and Charlie, 2 step grandchildren; Brian and Heidi and 10 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Frances Reisdorph, brother Kenneth Reisdorph, husband "Bud", and sons Jimmy, Timmy and Ivan Lee.
