In Loving Memory

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Glen Pointer who passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025 with his loving wife Gayla at his side.

Early Life and Family

Glen was born in Amarillo TX May 27, 1948, and was immediately adopted into the home of Alvin and Ilah Pointer who gave him love and support throughout their lives. He spent childhood days in Western OK on the water, fishing on ponds. Alvin was a tractor salesman and was able to bring Glen on sales calls to Oklahoma. He would later make Leedey, OK his home and created his own fishing ponds where he could continue doing what he loved…fishing.

Achievements and Passions

Glen graduated from Palo Duro high school in Amarillo, where he met his first wife Alice. She preceded him in death as did their son, Grayson Pointer. He became a machinist in the gas industry working for Pioneer before moving to Saudi Arabia in 1982 where he stayed employed with Saudi Aramco until his retirement in 1998. While in Saudi Arabia he took up scuba diving, still always around fish. He became a pretty decent underwater photographer. In Saudi Arabia there is an off-shore shoal that he built out of old junk in the shallow waters of the Persian Gulf. It brought many fish and corals to their new home and many other scuba enthusiasts.  He was so proud of the plaque that was erected there "Pointer Shoal". He was also proud of the career he built as a self-taught engineer in the oil industry. He helped build a desalinization plant turning sea water into fresh water and spent time fishing for tuna from off-shore platforms.

Once back in the United States he decided to create his homestead in Western OK and built the home he would stay in until his passing. He stocked ponds, created an orchard and took great pride in the land. He is survived by his loving wife Gayla of the home. Daughter Glena Caton of Salem Oregon, her husband and their 3 children. A son Brian Pointer of Chapel Hill, NC and his wife and 2 children. He had many long-time fishing buddies. Glen did not want a memorial service and we will honor his wishes. He wanted his remains to be donated to OU College of Medicine for any medical research.

May his memory be a blessing, and may we find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the love we carry forward and the fish we catch.

The family would like to give a very heartfelt thank you to everyone who has sent their condolences and food during this difficult time. A huge thank you to all the wonderful doctors and staff at Traditions Hospice and to Doctor Gore and all her staff for all their wonderful care and support.
