Obituary

Guy Lawrence Cadwell, Jr., the son of Guy Earl and Lorena (Hall) Cadwell , was born on February 20, 1948, in Higgins Texas. He passed from this life on December 14, 2025, at the age of 77.   Jr. was the youngest of the four children and was raised on the farm south of Harmon, Oklahoma on Hackberry Creek where he and his 2 sisters and brother tended the livestock, worked in the fields, and later helped with the dairy. Milking cows by hand, selling milk to the Arnett facility, and hauling hay were just some of the many duties he had growing up. Jr told many stories of growing up with his siblings and laughed about all the trouble they could get into, especially as teenagers. Jr. attended the Ioland School through fifth grade then completed his schooling at Arnett. He met the love of his life, Cherri Forrest, and they  were united in marriage on August 12, 1966, in Vici, Ok. They enjoyed 59 years and 4 months together. Jr. and Cherri moved to Alva after high school graduation where he attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University.  In 1969, they moved to the Cadwell family farm on Hackberry Creek where they continued to farm and ranch. The joy of his life arrived in 1969 when Jim Ryan was born. Later in life Jr. completed his certification to be a heat and air specialist. Along with that designation he became known as the guy to call whenever something needed fixed. He was known for being handy with just about everything and usually had the right parts and tools for any job tucked away in his truck, but only he knew where it was.  Jr. enjoyed taking his dogs with him wherever he went on the farm, they were taught to ride on the motorcycles and four wheelers with him as well as the tractors. Jr loved raising cattle and taking pictures of all the baby calves so he could show anybody he might run into. He recently shared this quote" Life is basically like sorting cattle, you think you're in charge, but really you're just chasing chaos in a circle and hoping you don't get hit by the gate".  He enjoyed many hunting and  fishing trips with Jim and his buddies and numerous ski trips with family and friends. During his later years he and Cherri embarked on many adventures that took them across the country where they enjoyed new experiences and made unforgettable memories.

Jr was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Lorena, his brother Buck Cadwell, and nephew Kervin Cadwell. He is survived by his wife Cherri of Vici, son Jim and daughter in law Lanie of Harmon, sister Darline Peterson of Colorado, sister Bonnie West of Edmond OK, Sister in law Mary Lou Cadwell of Woodward, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.  And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
