Harry Ellsworth Huber, 82 year old from Vici, Oklahoma, passed from this life on April 16, 2015, at the Seiling Hospital in Seiling, OK. Harry was born to William Ellsworth and Julia Etta (Orwick) Huber on September 1, 1932, in Williamstown, OH.
Harry was raised in Williamstown and attended Arlington, OH, Public Schools. He married Lois Stancliff in 1952, and four children were born to this union, Linda Lou, Daniel Neil, Joseph Harry, and John William. He later married Missuria Lee Buchanan, adopting her young children, Jeanette and John (John John). They had one son, George. Harry dearly loved all his children and they were the highlight of his life.
Harry started his working career at Tractomotive in Deerfield, IL. He then worked in Round Lake Beach, IL, at Basic Electronics plating circuit boards. It was here that he constructed boards for the first space shuttles. He also worked in Prairie View, IL, and Greenville, SC. He then moved to Taloga, OK, and then to Vici Nursing Center when his health no longer permitted him to stay at home.
Harry was a man of faith, being baptized at the United Brethren Church in Williamstown, OH, where he was a member and worked in the ministry. While living in Taloga, he attended the Baptist Church, riding his "Little Rascal" almost every Sunday. As a resident of the Vici Nursing Center, he enjoyed attending the church services held by local churches.
Harry was an avid sports enthusiast. In his younger days, he was a pool player and participated in several tournaments. The highlight of his pool career was playing against Minnesota Fats (no need to mention Harry did not win that match)! He raced cars, even choosing to race instead of accepting a full-ride scholarship to play football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He played football for the Lake County Riflemen, a semi-pro team of the Chicago Bears. During a four-week tryout camp for the Bears, Harry was run over many times by the linebacker Dick Butkus, but alas, Harry was cut on the third week of camp. He coached Joe and John for a Jr Varsity team, the Round Lake Spartans. He was also an avid fan of pro basketball, watching the Chicago Bulls, pro hockey supporting the Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago Cubs being his favorite pro baseball team. After moving to Oklahoma, he added to his favorite list of teams the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Taloga Panthers, and the Vici Indians! Even after moving into the nursing home, he attended Vici Indian games regularly, not letting hot or cold weather be a hindrance to his enthusiasm of supporting them!
Harry was preceded in death by his parents Williams and Julia, nine siblings Susan, Annabelle, Mary, Thetis, Edward, Brice, Marion, Lester, and Richard, daughter Linda Huber, son John William Huber, and infant son George Huber.
He is survived by sons Daniel Huber and wife Susan of Lindenhurst, IL, Joe Huber and wife Catherine of Taloga, OK, Johnny (John John) Huber of Freeport, IL; daughter Jeanette Dawson and husband Charles of Warren, IL; Lee Huber Fox of Freeport, IL; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one on the way; sister-in-law Betty Huber of Illinois; brother-in-law Don Woodall of Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews; other family and many friends.
