Helen Ruth (Bomhoff) Bay, 83, a longtime resident of Shattuck, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on January 3, 2024, in Shattuck.

Helen was born on January 7, 1940, in El Reno, Oklahoma, to the proud parents Frank and Helen (Crosson) Bomhoff. She spent her early years in Geary, Oklahoma, attending a country school near Geary and later graduating from Geary High School.

On December 27, 1959, Helen married the love of her life, Norman Bay, at the Geary First Christian Church. They were blessed with three sons—David, Mark, and Donald. The family lived in various places, including Stillwater, Shattuck, and Alva, before returning to Shattuck, which became their final and cherished home.

Helen devoted many years to teaching at schools in Gage, Shattuck, Forgan, and Buffalo, taking great pride in her role. In her leisure time, she found joy in quilting, playing the organ, tending to her beloved flowers and tomatoes, and, above all, spending time with her family, attending her boys' and grandchildren's activities.

Active in the community, Helen was a member of Helping Hearts and the Shattuck Library. She was baptized in her childhood at the Geary First Christian Church and later became a dedicated member of the Shattuck Methodist Church. She was known for playing the organ for her church family and attending the Elder Women's Sunday School.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Helen (Crosson) Bomhoff, and her infant brother. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her devoted husband, Norman Bay, of the home; her three sons, David Bay and wife Tammie, Mark Bay and wife Kerie, and Donald Bay and wife Mary, all residing in Shattuck, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Helen's legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched with her warmth, kindness, and love. May she rest in peace.
