Helen Margaret
(Hale) Fearn
July 20, 1933 – September 4, 2024
Helen Margaret (Hale) Fearn, daughter of Juston and Thelma (Phillips) Hale, was born on July 20, 1933, in Anacoco, LA, and passed from this life on September 4, 2024, at the age of 91. Helen spent her childhood and early school years in Anacoco before her family moved to Oklahoma, as her father was employed by the railroad.
Helen was united in marriage to Vernette Karpe and they established a home in Seminole, OK. They were the parents of seven children, Janice, Donnie, Richard, Bobby, Vonietta, JoAnn, and Douglas. While living in Seminole, Helen was baptized and became an active member of the local Baptist church, where she helped with Sunday School and children's activities. After Vernette's passing in 1972, Helen relocated with her family to western Oklahoma near Sharon, OK.and later to Woodward, OK.
In Woodward, Helen operated a taxi service for several years and worked for an oilfield flagging service. It was during this time she met Albert "Al" Fearn, and the two were married in 1989 in Higgins, TX. They made their home west of Vici, OK. where Helen was a homemaker, took pride in her flower garden and spent time with her family. Together, Al and Helen enjoyed raising and carrying for their cattle and they shared many fishing and camping adventures until Al's passing in 2006. Helen was a hard worker, strong of character and was filled with determination, she will be remembered for those qualities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juston and Thelma Hale; her husbands, Vernette Karpe and Al Fearn; four of her children, Janice (Karpe) Stadder, Donnie Karpe, Richard Karpe, and Bobby Karpe; her brothers, Ray Hale, Jimmy Hale, and Raymond Hale; and her sister, Billie Lou Combs and other loved ones.
Helen is survived by three of her children: Vonietta (Karpe) Wyatt, Jo Ann (Karpe) Savage and her husband Gary, and Douglas Karpe. She also leaves behind ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, numerous nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
