Obituary

Hugh Walton Hogg was born on November 6, 1922 in Ioland, OK and passed away in the Highland Park Nursing home in Enid on December 11, 2008. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Leedey. He was the youngest son of Thomas and Eunice (Wall) Hogg. Shortly after his birth, the family moved across the Canadian River into the Roger Mills County.
Hugh grew up in northern Roger Mills County where he attended and graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1943. He married Dorris Britton in 1943 and established his home on the home place northwest of Leedey. Hugh spent his entire life in northern Roger Mills County where he farmed, raised cattle and for many years had a dairy farm. He also worked on the construction of the Canadian River Bridge at Camargo and the Foss Lake dam.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorris, and seven of his eight siblings; brothers Tom, Ralph, Bryan, and Jim; sisters, Effie, Nell, and Lizzie.
He is survived by one sister, Ima Madson of Lubbock, TX; one son, James Walton Hogg and wife, Lue Vera of Hooker, OK; two daughters, Effie Mae Flick and husband, Dr. David Flick of Enid, OK; Susan Kay Vines and husband, Paul of Prosper, TX. Six grandchildren, DaLeesa Flick and Dorena Flick of Yukon, OK; Philip Flick of Cushing, OK; Jamie Hogg of Perryton, TX; Jaree Hogg of Lawrence, KS; and Jeremy Hogg and wife, Tia, of Turpin, OK; and two great-grandchildren, Jaret Walton and Addyson Claire Hogg of Turpin, OK.
He was always proud of the facts that his father, Tom Hogg, was an Oklahoma Senator and State Representative and his grandfather, David Hogg, was a member of the Oklahoma Constitutional Convention.
Services were held Sunday, December 14, 2008 @ 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Leedey. Burial followed at the Dewey Cemetery in Roger Mills County. Condolences may be made at shawfuneralhome.net.
