IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ima Lee
(Barton) Detrixhe
June 12, 1930 – November 20, 2022
Ima Lee (Barton) Detrixhe, 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep November 20, 2022. She had been a resident at Mesa View Senior Living Home since 2020.
Ima Lee was born at the family home in Ellis County Oklahoma near Higgins, Texas on June 12, 1930 to Archie Thomas and Clara May (Eggleston) Barton. She was the tenth of thirteen children born to this union. Ima attended the Bishop School in rural Ellis County all twelve years of her school career. She was a proud Bishop Eagle basketball player. Following graduation in 1948, she rode the train to Amarillo, Texas where she accepted a position for a short time as a live-in nanny.
Ima returned to the Higgins area and married Edward Carl Detrixhe on January 15, 1949. They had four children: Judy, Rita, Nancy and Phil. All three of her daughters and their families reside in the Higgins area and her son lives south of Higgins where she and Eddie farmed and ranched together for forty-nine years. Ima was a hard working woman as well as a fun loving grandmother. She loved working in the outdoors, especially gardening and growing flowers. Her love for basketball was seen every time she showed up in the shed at her home to play with her grandkids. Then later in life she lived to attend the many, many events of her great grandkids until she was no longer physically able to do so. Ima lived in her home for seventy four years. It was the only other home she knew besides the one she was born in.
Ima is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, ten siblings; Bob, Clifford, Sam, Leonard, Moreland, Charley and Alice Barton, Dora Shelton, Lora Bittman and Neva Laxson; grandson Joshua Lee Habekott and a son in law Jay Barbee.
Ima is survived by one sister, Jean Bybee of Edmond, Oklahoma, one brother Jack Barton of Neosho, Missouri; her four children, Judy Barbee, Rita and her husband Randy Thompson, Nancy and her husband Roger Habekott and Phil Detrixhe; seven grandchildren, Michael and Katie Habekott, Clarissa and Paul Allen, Carla and Jason Watson, Vanessa Barbee and Justin Burley, James and LeAnna Thompson, Lacey and Matt Sullivan and John and Cheri Barbee; seventeen great grandchildren, Tucker and Chance Habekott, Dawlson, Brenham and Taytum Allen, Cierra, Cara, Cora, Jayden, Jace and Jaxton Watson, Janessa and Jayd Barbee, Laramye Jackson, Parker Thompson and Keegan and Kennedee Sullivan.
