Obituary for Irma "Darlene" Cambio

Our mom Darlene passed away peacefully in her home on October 4, 2024 in Carnation WA.

Born in 1926 in Belleville Kansas to Pastor James Dooley and his wife Agnes Moorhead Dooley, Darlene was second oldest to an older brother and two younger sisters. Her brother and youngest sister both went into ministry but God had different plan for Darlene. The family moved a lot but landed in Los Angeles as WWII started.

As a young girl, she worked in one of the war factories, after which she married a veteran, Paul Anderson and moved to Rosemead, CA. They had two children, Jim Anderson and Connie Anderson Noll. Darlene found her calling in becoming a nurse, where she excelled. Starting in California she worked from there to Florida, to Colorado, to Saudi Arabia, then back to Colorado. Always working in surgery, she went from staff nurse to head of surgery.

Her pinnacle achievement was in 1980 when she took a job with National Medical Enterprises to go to Saudi Arabia. There she lead the setup and start a surgical ward in a brand new hospital for the royal family, in the summer capital of Taif. She was the lead surgical staff consult in the first Siamese twin separation procedure in that country. Over 15 years she lived in Saudi Arabia including during Desert Storm War in 1991. After several projects were completed she returned to Colorado, but continued to work as a medical supplies representative into her early 80's.

Darlene moved to Carnation, Washington in 2013 to live near her son and subsequently closer to her daughter in California. So after 98 years she will now return to her Midwest roots from Kansas to Oklahoma.

She is preceded in death by parents, her sister Esther Eitzen, brother Kenneth Dooley.

She is survived by her youngest sister Bonnie Daffern and husband Gene of McMinnville, OR, her son Jim Anderson and wife Jolene of Carnation, WA, daughter Connie Noll of Monrovia, CA, multiple grandkids, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
