Obituary

Jackie Doyle Forbes, 64 year old Gage, OK resident passed from this life in Oklahoma City, OK on December 6, 2013. Jack was born on June 13, 1949 to William and Vida Garrett Forbes in Pawnee, OK. The family made their home in Ralston, OK.

Jack attended Ralston Public Schools graduating from high school with the Class of 1967. He continued his education at Tonkawa Jr. College then transferred to Southwestern Oklahoma State University obtaining a Bachelor degree in Physical Education and a Minor in History. Jack then became an educator, coach, and most importantly a mentor. Young people became his life. He loved coaching on the hard court at Canute, Battiest, Fargo, Felt, Carter, Carmen-Dacoma, Yarbrough, Gage and Arnett.

Jack was baptized at the Ralston Baptist Church. While walking his path of life he met Carol Blanche Day, an older and beautiful lady. They married on April 28, 1975 in Wheeler, TX. Carol had two boys Tracy and Troy which Jack treated as his own. Jack and Carol soon learned to open their home to other young men whom might have needed a small break in life or just a firm, fair, and honest hand. They were blessed to have Jimmy Patton, Paul Esparza, Jamie Hosey, and Jason Johnson become a part of their family.

Jack worked hard as a coach for 39 years. Teaching was his passion, on the court and in the history class room. He also enjoyed being an Antique Collector, shopping, repairing, trading, and buying. Jack also loved to fish with family, friends, and anyone else who would set and visit. See that was a gift that Jack had. There were no strangers, there was always time, and a "who are you?" "Yeah I coached or watched your kids play."

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Vida Forbes, brother, Bill Forbes, step-sons Tracy Broadbent and Troy Broadbent, special son, Jamie Hosey and niece Frannie McClendon. He is survived by his wife of the home, Carol; brother, Jim Forbes of Florida; his boys, Jimmy Patton and wife Ginger of Kremlin, OK, Paul Esparza and wife Hannah of Oklahoma City, OK and Jason Johnson of Arnett, OK; sister-in-law Sharon Metzler and husband Wesley of Leedey, OK; 6 grandchildren, Curtis, Stephanie, Austin, William, Sarah, and Katrina; 6 great-grandchildren, Creedence, Brianna, Troy, Randy, Faith, and Taylor; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew other family and a host of friends.
