Obituary

Jackie (Jack) Scott was born on August 20, 1942 to Dewey and Edith Mae (Patrick) Scott. He passed from this life on October 23, 2011 in Woodward, OK. Jack went to McCarr High School in West Virginia. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Prior to being married Jack lived in West Virginia, Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio.

Jack met Joan Stringer of Chicago, Illinois and after a short courtship they were married on October 31, 1965 in Downers Grove, Illinois. Jack joined the United States Army in 1965 but was shortly honorably discharged due to back and knee injuries as well as diabetes. After his discharge, Jack and Joan continued to reside in Downers Grove for many years.

Jack was a Jack of all trades. He was the custodian of a high school as well as the maintenance assistant for the football team, assuring all exercise and weight machines were in working order. He also worked in a factory for a brief time and would fill in as a lancer wherever needed. Jack opened a private residential and professional building cleaning service called "Mr. Jack's". On March 7, 1975, Jack and Joan welcomed their son, James (Jim) Aaron Scott. They welcomed their daughter, Shiela Ann Scott on June 12, 1976. Both children were born in Downers Grove.

Although Jack and Joan eventually went their separate ways, they remained very good friends. They always stayed in touch, whether visiting each other or through phone calls.

Jack lived in Chicago, Illinois until about 1998 when he moved to Woodward, Oklahoma to be closer to his kids and grandchildren.

Jack's daughter, Shiela and husband John Kenning, who were married in 1994, welcomed their first child Michael Paul on June 18, 1995. Although he didn't get to see Mike for a few years until he moved to Oklahoma, Jack and his grandson, Mike became instant friends. In October, 1997, John and Shiela welcomed their daughter, Ashley Diane who was very close with her grandfather, Jack from the start.

Jack's son Jim has three sons, Dalton Ray, Dylan and Braiden and one daughter, Jordan. In 1996, Jim met and married his wife Amanda.

Most of Jack's hobbies revolved around his grandchildren. Sneaking them out for ice cream or McDonald's or taking them hunting and fishing, which is where he acquired the nickname "Fishing Grandpa" from his grandson, Michael.

Jack had many interests including muscle cars (or cars in general), watching John Wayne movies and just enjoying his kids and grandkids, as well as his many friends. Jack never met a person he didn't immediately strike up a conversation with and find they had something in common. He was a friend to all and loved by many.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Edith Mae Scott, nephews, Ronald and Ray Patrick, parents-in-law, Robert and Alice Stringer and his closest friend, Jerry Aldridge.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Jim Scott and wife Amanda of Woodward, OK; Jim's sons, Dalton and Dylan of Woodward, OK, Braiden of Enid, OK and Jim's daughter, Jordan of Fargo, OK; daughter, Shiela Kenning and husband John of Elgin, OK and their two children Michael and Ashley of Elgin, OK; sister, Joan Stellars and husband Carl of Ohio, former wife, Joan Hicks of Cherokee, OK, and many extended family and friends all loving and missing him, but at peace knowing he is watching over us all.
