Long-time Arnett resident, Jackie Earl Stevens died May 15, 2010 at the age of 77. Jackie, born October 18, 1932 in Shattuck, Oklahoma, was one of five children born to Albert and Nettie (Bruce) Stevens.
Jackie grew up in Follett, Texas. His grade school and high school years were spent in the Follet Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1950.
Jackie was united in marriage to Miss Jackie Mozzelle Paul on July 4th, 1953. The ceremony took place in Follett, Texas. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of their son, Randy. The family made their home in Liberal, Kansas and Lakewood, Colorado for a time before settling in Arnett, Oklahoma.
Jackie worked as a meat cutter most of his life. He worked for Safeway for several years before purchasing B & S Packing House in Arnett. When not working he enjoyed spending time fishing, playing board games, working puzzles, and watching old John Wayne movies. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting with friends. Jackie was a loving father and devoted husband.
Family members preceding him in death are his wife of 44 years, Jackie Stevens; parents, Albert and Nettie Stevens; sisters, Alberta Stevens and Florence Tangney. Those remaining to cherish his memory are son, Randy Stevens of Arnett, Oklahoma; sister, Irene Weber of Wichita, Kansas; brother, Wesley Stevens of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren, Heather Longhofer of Shattuck, Oklahoma and Ashley Drew of Laverne, Oklahoma; five great-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends.
