James "Jim" Allen Bailey, 73 year old resident of Tonkawa, OK, passed from this life on August 8, 2020 in Enid Oklahoma.  Jim was born December 15, 1946 to A.B. and Dorothy (Swan) Bailey in Blackwell, OK.  He grew up in Tonkawa and attended school there graduating with the class of 1965.  Jim attended Northern Oklahoma College and OSU from 1966 to 1969.  From 1969 to 1977, Jim faithfully served his country in the Navy where he achieved the rank of E-6.  He served in the Vietnam War and received a Good Conduct Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.

On July 2, 1993, Jim married Patricia Fern Wilson Bailey in Weatherford, OK.  Jim had one son Brent Allen; Jim also welcomed three daughters Michelle, Gabrielle, and Angella.  Jim owned and ran a fuel station and towing service in Tonkawa.

Jim was a member of the Tonkawa first Baptist Church and was baptized at approximately 9 years of age.  Jim loved God, Family, Country and Towing Vehicles.  He loved to read Louis L'Amour books and watch the Duke movies.  He lived by his favorite quote by the Duke, John Wayne, "Talk low, talk slow, and carry a big stick".  He also liked fishing, hunting, guns, and the Rockford files.  Jim was known to be super ornery and strong.  He was also a man of few words, but the words he said made everyone listen.  He did not like getting dressed up and his outfit of choice was jeans, a two pocket T, and work boots with his phone in one shirt pocket, and a wad of cash in the other.  At Thanksgiving meals Jim was known to yell AMEN! after the family prayer.  Everyone knew this meant it was time to dig in.  He loved spending time with the grandkids, and the grandkids loved spending time with Jim.  They knew if they went grocery shopping, they could pick out whatever they wanted.  Jim loved to provide Gatorade, Honeybuns, and suckers to his grandkids.  He enjoyed towing vehicles and giving the grandkids rides in the tow truck.  Jim will be missed, but his legacy of strength and love will continue in our hearts and lives.

Jim is preceded in death by parents A.B. and Dorothy Swan Bailey, sisters Kay Kreger and Phillis Basson, and grandson Grant David Bailey.

He is survived by his wife of the home Patricia Fern Bailey, son Brent Allen and wife Darion of Tonkawa, OK; grandson Garrett Allen Bailey of Tonkawa, OK; daughters Michelle James and husband David, Gabrielle Ogle, and Angella Merkle and husband Ryan; grandchildren Hannah Grace James, Sarah Elizabeth James, Asheley Lynn Middleton, Nicole Paige Middleton, Sunny Lynae Middleton, Isabella Fern Gizzo, Avery Danielle Merkle, Emery Dawn Merkle, Kassidi Renee Bailey, and Kallie Jon Kreger; brother Bert Bailey and wife Janet of Katy, TX; sister Betty Schultz of Tonkawa, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
