Obituary

James Milton Jones was born in Rocky Comfort, Missouri, to George and Jewell (Long) Jones on March 29, 1924. He passed from this life on September 27, 2007 at Woodward Regional Hospital, Woodward, Oklahoma.

James attended school through the ninth grade at Stella, Missouri. He married Frankie Johnson and to this union four children were born James E., Judy, Linda, and Gary. Later, he married Margaret Bell Bowman. He was blessed to have five step-daughters Jackie, Elizabeth, Mary Jane, Laverna Sue, and Kathy.

James joined the United States Marine Corp. on December 12, 1942. He spent time in the South Pacific and was awarded the marksman medal. He was discharged from the United States Marine Corp. on October 20, 1945. James' special interests were hunting and fishing.

James was preceded in death by his parents, George and Jewell (Long) Jones, by his wife Margaret Bell Bowman, by two step-daughters Laverna Sue, and Kathy, and by one brother, Carl E. Jones.

James is survived by two daughters, Judy Giles of Republic, MO, and Linda Messer of Joplin, MO, by two sons James E. Jones of Carl Junction, MO and by Gary Jones of South Carolina, by three step-daughters, Jackie Sue Gruenwall, Elizabeth Bell, and Mary Jane Bell, by sister, Bonnie L. Hayes of Joplin, MO, and brother, Larry G. Jones of Mannford, OK, by six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, five nieces, six nephews, other family and a host of friends.
