IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James (Jim)
Lee Schoenhals
October 13, 1948 – February 24, 2023
James Lee (Jim) Schoenhals passed away on February 24, 2023, at the age of 74 years and 4 months. Jim was born on October 13, 1947, Shattuck, OK., the 4 th child of Allen Schoenhals and Esther (Meier) Schoenhals.
Attending Shattuck High School, Jim graduated in 1966 and attended Oklahoma State University until enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1968. Excelling on his tests, Jim was selected to attend radar development school where he was the only enlisted man among officers. He served his country with top security clearance while stationed at Udorn Royal Air Force Base in Thailand, the headquarters for the 7 th and 10 th Air Force.
Jim was employed from 1972 to 1999 by multiple companies including General Dynamics, an aerospace industry company where he performed radar maintenance. With other companies, he was an engineer who helped develop many products such as controllers for quieter fans, fuel consumption and moving satellite dishes remotely.
With friends Jim Franks and Gary Gable, Jim bought a sea vessel. Jim installed all the electrical wiring, electronics and radar equipment, which never failed, proving that Jim was an excellent electrician.
His father's illness brought Jim back to Shattuck and the farm. After Dad's passing in February 2004, Jim remained to help Mom who passed in June, 2011. In Shattuck, Jim became involved with the Shattuck Senior Citizen's Center and Shattuck Windmill Museum and Park serving as President on both boards. Other activities included the Woodward VFW Post and a group of Woodward friends who formed the "Safety Group".
Being a kind, compassionate person who thrived on service to others, Jim would drive relatives and friends to doctor's appointments across the region. He loved to visit and could talk with anyone, usually barely taking a breath. Bring up a topic and Jim knew something about it, had a picture of it or he'd read about it to you from his computer! He enjoyed spending time vacationing or visiting with family in their homes or at Branson, MO.
James was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Donald T. Schoenhals.
Jim is survived by his brothers Douglas A. Schoenhals and Richard Schoenhals, his sister Linda L. White, Aunt Betty Schoenhals, 3 nieces, 3 nephews, 4 great nieces, 7 great nephews, friend Sharon Bradshaw and a host of relatives and many friends.
