Obituary

James Lee Wight, 80 year old Vici Nursing Home resident, passed from this life on October 5, 2013. James was born on February 28, 1933 in Lansing, Michigan to Russell William and Esther Joy Peck Wight. James lived in Lansing attending Lansing Public Schools thru the tenth grade.

In May of 1951 James joined the United States Navy. He served in the Korean Conflict. He was honored with the Korea Ribbon Medal and received the rank of Fireman 3rd Class. He was discharged in May of 1955. James then moved to Phoenix, Arizona. On June 23, 1956 James married Arva Joyce Bishop. They made their home in Phoenix. Two boys blessed this union, Michael and Brian. James worked in an optometry lab as an Optician. After retirement in 1990 the couple moved to Western Oklahoma and lived near Vici, Oklahoma.

James loved working with his hands. Wood and metal were his favorite materials to work with. James, with great help from his wife, was able to build their home west of Vici. The couple enjoyed the Senior Citizens group at Vici. James moved to the Vici Nursing Home in 2011 which became his second home. James was baptized in 1980 and was a member of the Worldwide Church of God.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Esther Wight. He is survived by his wife Arva Wight of Vici, Oklahoma; sons Michael Wight of Mesa, Arizona and Brian Wight and wife Pauline of Eloy, Arizona; grandson, Brandon Wight of Eloy, Arizona; granddaughters, Kristina Wight and Mallory Wight of Mesa, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Alexander Wight, Gabrial Wight and Augustine Valentino; brothers, Jack Wight of Phoenix, Arizona and Daniel Wight of Superior, Arizona; sisters, Janet Andrews of Payson, Arizona and Dixie Marsh of Simi Valley, California; several nieces, nephews other family and a host of friends.
