Janet Denise Whitley, age 71, of Taloga, Oklahoma, passed away on June 13, 2026, in Seiling, Oklahoma.
Janet was born on November 3, 1954, in Dumas, Texas, to David and Wanda (Cole) Eddy. She grew up in Dumas alongside her younger sister, Vicki, with whom she shared a close and lifelong bond. Janet attended Dumas Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1973.
On October 3, 1972, Janet married the love of her life, Les Whitley, in Dumas, Texas. Together they built a loving family and were blessed with three sons: Brandon David, Mickey Kyle, and Kody Pete.
Throughout their marriage, Janet and Les made their home in several communities as work opportunities led them from Dumas to Dalhart, Texas, back to Dumas, then to Taloga, Oklahoma, and later to Aztec, New Mexico. Following Les's retirement, they returned home to Taloga, where they continued to enjoy life surrounded by family and friends.
Janet worked at two banks Camargo State Bank and First American Bank in Taloga, where she enjoyed serving her community and building lasting friendships. She attended nail technician school and operated her own nail business for several years.
Janet was a woman of many talents and interests. She enjoyed painting and had a passion for collecting unique treasures and possessed a special gift for decorating. She loved sharing her favorite music and movies with her boys and created countless cherished memories with her family. Above all else, Janet's greatest joy was her family. She was a natural caregiver and had a very nurturing personality. She treasured every opportunity to spend time with those she loved and took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The grandchildren called her Nana Bubbles and that just brought a big smile to her face. Her happy place was the mountains especially in Red River.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Wanda Eddy; her father-in-law and stepmother-in-law, Otis and Kathy Whitley; her stepfather-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Juanita (Whitley) Harvey; her sisters-in-law, Mary Smith, Paula Whitley and Denise Whitley; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and other extended family members.
