IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janice Ann
(Salisbury) Parker
February 15, 1963 – May 8, 2024
Janice Ann (Salisbury) Parker passed from this life on May 8, 2024 as a result of a brain aneurysm. She was 61 years old at the time of her passing. Janice was the youngest of seven children born to John and Dixie (Miller) Salisbury. She arrived into their family on February 15, 1963 in Woodward, Oklahoma. Janice was raised in Vici Oklahoma, attended Vici Public Schools graduating with the class of 1981. Janice met her perfect match with Chuck Parker and they married on August 24, 1984. Their union was blessed with three children, Jessica Marie, Charles Verner, and Laura Elizabeth.
The couple first made their home in Arnett, OK and soon moved to Edmond, OK while Chuck continued his education at Francis Tuttle Technology Center. Janice loved her family fiercely and always saw to their needs. While caring for her family, she took a job working at a local dress shop in Edmond. Later, she accepted a position with an accountant where her skills in business shone. In 1989, the family moved to Charlotte, NC. While Chuck worked in new technology, Janice cared for the home and took a job as a dispatcher.
Janice was a master at making special occasions memorable for her children, her grandchildren, and family. If anyone came to visit, she and Chuck always made them feel welcomed and honored. She was the true definition of "The Hostess with the Mostest".
Janice was a lifelong learner. She read and researched everything. She took classes in photography, pottery, and decorating and used these skills in her home and with her family. She enjoyed taking pictures, especially of her children as they grew up, and sharing them with her Oklahoma family so we knew them even though they lived away. Janice was loyal, quick-witted, fun-loving, and self-driven. She was proactive in taking care of the task at hand, never a procrastinator. She led by example holding high standards in everything she did.
Janice loved the outdoors and took walks everyday. She was happiest when tending her gardens and planting flowers. She loved getting her hands in the dirt and could tell you the names of flowers and how to tend them just by looking at a picture. She enjoyed watching the birds from her window flitting around her backyard; she loved nature. Jan and Chuck are Carolina Panther fans and enjoyed sharing season tickets with family and friends. Janice was an active participant in the PTA at her children's schools visiting once a week to help their teachers. She wouldn't stand by if someone was getting treated poorly or misbehaving; she stood up for what was right. She was a true friend, always supportive, enjoyed socializing, and shared much laughter. She had nicknames for everyone and you felt special when she greeted you with it. She was the first to come when someone needed help; numerous times dropping everything to come back to Oklahoma to support her and Chuck's parents and siblings. Janice was a light to all that knew her. Her smile would brighten your day and her laugh was infectious. Her soul made a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Janice was preceded in death by her father John Salisbury, brother Steve Salisbury, sister Carolyn Zuelsdorf, nephew Cody McDowell, great nephew Boden Workman, step father-in-law Doyle Tackett, mother-in-law, Anita Tackett, and nephew, Jeremy Parker.
