Janice Lee Thompson, 76, of Higgins, Texas died June 2, 2008 at her home in Higgins. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., June 5, 2008 in the Higgins Cemetery.

Janice was born February 8, 1932 on the Drefus Ranch south of Higgins to Jim and Mary (Eller) McDonald. She graduated from Higgins ISD in 1950 and attended Draughns School of Business in Amarillo.

Janice married Floyd Thompson of Arnett, Oklahoma on July 8, 1953 in Clovis, New Mexico. They made their home in Higgins and were married for 53 years.

Janice was a member of the First Baptist Church in Higgins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Thompson; by parents, Jim and Mary McDonald; and by siblings, Lewis McDonald, Christine Kanarr, and Dorothy Daniels.

Janice is survived by her five children, Randy and Rita Thompson of Canadian, TX, Claude Thompson and Lucky Goodwin of Canadian, TX, Peggy and Bob Dukes of Amarillo, TX, Lafonda and Terry Lee of Sharon, OK and Glorianne Thompson and Jeff Zink of Canadian, TX; by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; by sister-in-law Lula Patton of Skiatook, OK; by brother-in-law, Paul Kanarr of Prince Fredrick, MA; by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

She was a loving mother and friend and will be dearly missed.

The family request that memorials be sent to Hemphill County Hospice in Canadian, TX or the Rodger Habekott Scholorship Fund, care of First National Bank of Higgins, TX.
