IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean
Touchstone
October 7, 1938 – October 30, 2024
Dorothy Jean (Pyeatt) Touchstone, known lovingly as Jean, was born on October 7, 1938, on her family's farm east of Leedey, Oklahoma, to parents Arl Pyeatt and Nora Lee Harris. Jean grew up in Leedey, where she attended school and graduated in 1956. In 1955, Jean married and soon welcomed a son and two daughters, embarking on a life filled with family, faith, and community.
Jean's life journey took her from California in 1956–1957, to Foss, Oklahoma, from 1958–1960, to Leedey from 1961–1964, then to Pampa, Texas, from 1965–1969. In 1969, she returned to Leedey, where she spent the next several decades, before moving to Elk City, Oklahoma, in 2023, where she resided until her passing on October 30, 2024.
Jean was a hardworking woman, holding various jobs over the years, including work at a sewing factory, assisting with dispatch, and helping to run a dairy farm. However, her main career and pride was as a business owner, where she successfully operated her own café, bringing warmth and good food to the community. Jean also delighted in sewing, cooking, painting, crocheting, and traveling, and cherished her role in caring for her grandchildren. As a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church, Jean participated in mission trips, embodying a spirit of generosity and service.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughters Janetta Harlow and Brenda Jean Touchstone, her sisters Leona Eaton and Virgie Cornett, her brother Henry Pyeatt, brother-in-law Duane Touchstone, and her beloved grandson Dustin "Dusty" Baker.
She is survived by her son, Keith Touchstone, and his wife Janice of Leedey, Oklahoma; her sister Hazel Liles of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her sisters-in-law Ruth Pyeatt of Sweetwater, Oklahoma, and Donita Vernon of Amarillo, Texas; her brother-in-law Ronnie Touchstone of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Jean's kindness, warmth, and enduring love for her family and community will forever be remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy of hard work, faith, and devotion lives on through those who were blessed to be part of her life.
