Obituary

Jerry Ronald Bailey, was born 10 July 1940 to Allen Otis and Zena Loyet Wingo Bailey in their log home, three miles east of Vici, Oklahoma. Living in the log house until 1957 when they built a new home on site. It remains in the family, passing down to granddaughter of Allen and Loyet's, Coletta Goodman. In 2018 the "Big Rhea Fire" destroyed the family home.

Jerry graduated in 1959 at Vici Public Schools. During his high school years he worked at a gas station after school. Summer time was a new adventure, where he found himself working for local, custom, combine wheat harvesters.

In 1960, Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Harris in Vici, Oklahoma. They made Vici their home, and to this union they were blessed with a daughter, Coletta Jean, and a son, Billy Craig.

Jerry had an amazing life. He could build about anything, and enjoyed helping anyone.

Jerry operated Bailey's Conoco gas station for three years. He was a parts man for Pierson Chevrolet in Vici. He worked for twenty years as a carpenter for Wilson Construction in Woodward, Oklahoma. In 1982, Jerry was employed at Vici Public Schools for twenty years as the maintenance supervisor, and taught woodshop.

Jerry was a fifty year member of the Vici Masonic Lodge. He served on the Vici Town Board. He had a fifty year membership in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He served twenty years on the Vici Volunteer Fire Department.

Jerry belonged to the Vici United Methodist Church and served on the board in various positions. He was a Sunday School teacher, and helped to remodel the church at various times.

Jerry was a cattle rancher. He liked to travel, hunt, fish, and camp. He liked reading, woodworking, and gunsmithing. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and retirement.

Jerry was very proud of his Scottish heritage. He belonged to the MacDuff Clan and Kilgore Sept. He and his family visited Amarillo, Texas several times to go to the Scottish Festival.

He was also proud of his Cherokee and Creek Indian heritage. He went to several pow-wows with his grandmother when he was young.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Loyet Bailey; sister Norine Greenwood, and brothers, Earl, Kenny, and Frank Bailey.

He is survived by his wife Barbara of Vici.

He is also survived by his daughter Coletta Goodman and husband Reine; grandson Bryan Goodman and wife Dalanie, great-grandchildren Kaydance and Willow of Mooreland; granddaughter Ashley Boswell and husband Brian, great-grandchildren Chloe, Hayden, and Addilyn of Vici; and grandson Cole Goodman of Vici.

He is additionally survived by his son Bill Bailey and wife Crissa; grandson Mason Bates of Vici; grandson Travin Roy of Vici, OK; granddaughter Jenna Bailey and great-grandson Noah Bailey of Medford, Oregon; and grandson Jared Bailey of Woodward.

Further survivors include his sister, Lois Grose of Arkansas City, Kansas; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of loved ones and friends.
