He is proceeded in death by his father Lester Earl Goodale and mother Cora Mae Goodale, and a sister Phyllis Kirkpatrick.  Surviving are his wife of 67 years Darlene Goodale of Ponca City, a son Mike Goodale of Ponca City and his wife Lynn and their two children, Emily Trout and her husband Ryan of Jenks, and Christa Hernandez and her husband Raul of Cuernavaca, Mexico; a son Bruce Goodale of Summerfield, Florida and his wife Laurie and their three children, Laura Droege and her husband Derek of Gainesville, Florida, Alan Goodale of Tulsa, and Amber Goodale of East Berlin, Pennsylvania; a daughter Sheila Weiss and her husband Phil of Oklahoma City and their three children, Nathan Weiss and his wife Sidney of Oklahoma City, Lindsay Dunham and her husband Caleb of Edmond, and Hannah Crise and her husband Jeremy of Edmond; and Jerry's great grandchildren, Emily and Ryan's two daughters Molly and Kylee, Christa and Raul's two daughters Allie and Olivia, Laura and Derek's daughter Daphne and son Landen, and Nathan and Sidney's son Gavin and daughter Harper; and three sisters, Louise Crawford, Bonnie Odell, and Cora Nordyke.

Jerry and Darlene were high school sweethearts in Ames before getting married.  Jerry found work in Wichita, Kansas where their first child Michael (Mike) was born on January 11th, 1958.  They later moved back to the Ames area and Jerry eventually got a job with Oklahoma, Gas, and Electric (OG&E) in August, 1959.  His first job was reading meters, and he later became a lineman in the Enid area.  Their second child Bruce was born on February 13th, 1960.  In the early 1960s, they built a home west of Enid near Imo.  On November 28, 1964 their third child Sheila was born.  In 1970, Jerry was promoted to an Area Representative for OG&E and he moved his family to Lamont, where he served electric customers in several small communities in the surrounding area.  Jerry retired from OG&E on July 31, 1994 with 35 years' experience.  After retirement Jerry enjoyed working on two small farms he owned, one near Lamont and later on another one near Ames. He also enjoyed helping friends and neighbors with electrical work and anything else they needed, and he especially loved spending time with family.  Jerry and Darlene moved from Lamont to Enid a few years after retirement and later to a home on Crystal Lakes west of Ames for several years.  They eventually moved back to Enid for a couple years and finally ended up in Ponca City at Via Christi, an Assisted Living Facility.  Jerry was a good husband and father and a devoted Christian.  The family has very fond memories with Jerry throughout the years and has enjoyed fun activities with him traveling, water skiing, snow skiing, hiking, and bicycle rides across Oklahoma, to name a few.  Jerry was a jokester but also a hard worker and was very devoted to his community and church.  He was a volunteer firefighter for several years and would do anything to help somebody out.
