Jerry Ray Steinle, son of John Henry (Johnny) Steinle and Virginia Thompson Steinle was born July 12, 1949 at Higgins, TX.  He passed from this life June 23, 2021 at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 11 days at Shattuck, OK.

Jerry's childhood days were spent in the Higgins community where he attended the Higgins Baptist Church and was baptized at the age of 15.  He received his formal education in the Higgins public schools. Jerry was an Explorer Scout in his teenage years and an avid rockhound that carried on into his adult life. Growing up, he enjoyed exploring, hunting, fishing and camping out with friends. He was a high achiever and very involved in high school groups and activities. Chemistry and science were his passions along with being very talented in basketball and other sports.  He was a member of the graduating class of 1967.  Following graduation he attended college before entering the U.S. Army as a Warrant Officer Aviator in March of 1969.  In April of 1969 he began a tour of duty with the 48 th Aviation Company as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam.  For his meritorious service he received the following awards and honors: the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, an Army Aviator Badge, Army Commendation Ribbon and the Distinguished Flying Cross.  He received his honorable discharge from active duty on November 22, 1970 at the attained rank of Chief Warrant Officer Two.

Upon his return stateside, Jerry received his commercial helicopter pilot's license.  He made his home in Lafayette, LA. and was employed as a pilot for 40 years by Petroleum Helicopter International, a company providing a wide range of transportation services for the oil and gas industry.  Following his retirement Jerry returned to the Shattuck, OK. area where he enjoyed the solitude of country living.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Virginia Steinle, his grandparents, Reinhart and Bertha Steinle and other loved ones.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Barton and his brother, Jimmie Steinle, both of Higgins, TX., two nieces, one nephew, other relatives and friends.
