(Belew) Mcintosh
June 3, 1940 – August 28, 2022
Jettie Ann (Belew) McIntosh, née Belew of Kansas City, Kansas completed her earthly journey surrounded by the love of family on August 28, 2022 at the age of 82.
Jettie Ann was born at home on June 3, 1940 in Vici, Oklahoma. Her parents modeled faith in God, hard work, perseverance and hospitality, a foundation that grounded Jettie in life. She graduated from Vici High School in 1958 and continued her studies at Bethany Nazarene College. In 1962 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from BNC all while working 40 hours a week between classes.
Jettie accepted her first teaching job with Kansas City's District 500 where she would dedicate the next 38 years of her life to elementary education, primarily teaching 2nd grade. Jettie was an outstanding educator and admired by colleagues and parents for the level of excellence she demonstrated in her classroom that was matched only by the deep love she had for the educational and emotional growth of her students. In retirement, Jettie returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher who found her weeks filled with teachers who personally requested "Mrs. McIntosh" when they needed coverage.
It was through mutual church friends that Jettie met Jim McIntosh. Jettie and Jim married on December 27, 1964. They had one child, their daughter Melissa. Together, Jettie and her family, were active members of the Nazarene church. Jettie was a gifted organizer and could often be found planning an event for children or adults. She and Jim cherished their church family and were involved in the outreach of Shawnee Church of the Nazarene. Honoring her own family history, Jettie became a member of the Quivera Crossing Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Jettie loved children, loved education and loved people. She was loyal and steadfast. Her word was true and her willingness to lead was shown through example. She cared for the weak, looking after friends and neighbors in need. She was a hard worker. She was not boastful. She embraced life and its challenges. When faced with difficulties, she found strength through her faith in God and put her trust in the One that held the future. Jettie was a supportive and loving mother, wife, sister and friend. Her energetic legacy of love and generosity touched many lives.
Jettie was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jimmy "Jim" Darrell McIntosh; her brother Ricky Lynn Belew; infant twin siblings Garland and Darlene Belew; mother Edna Ellen (Payne) Belew; father Garland Marcus Belew. She is survived by daughter, Melissa McIntosh Landis (husband Brett); her grandchildren, Tristan Alexander Landis and Madison Melind Landis; sister Charlene White; sister Dolores Cleveland (husband Dick); brother Larry Belew; brother Jerry Belew (wife Anna); seventeen nieces and nephews.
