Obituary
Jewell Irene Watkins Hull, 88 year old resident of Gage, OK passed from this life on November 24, 2013 at her home with family by her side. Jewell was born July 27, 1925 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Merl Riley and Icena Jewell Campbell Watkins.
Jewell's parents picked cotton, moving many times. She started school at Beaver Bend, Harmony School District near Elgin, and then followed on to Lawton Public School through the 8th grade. After that, the family moved to Hardtner, KS, then to Alva, OK, and finished up in Eldorado, KS where Jewell graduated from High School with the Class 1945. Jewell continued her education at St. Francis Nursing School in Wichita, KS while her folks moved to Planview, KS.
On December 20, 1947 Jewell married Elbert Andrew "Hap" Hull in Canadian, TX at the Methodist Parsonage. They started their life in Shattuck, OK and were blessed with four children: Linda Kay, Sandra Elaine, Elbert Earl, and Debra Sue.
Jewell learned to work hard as a child picking cotton and as an adult; she worked for Boeing in the wing department. As a mother she printed pictures for a photographer, sewed clothing, and loved canning anything from vegetables and pickles to jellies and butters. Jewell made cheerleading outfits, prom outfits, and was even known to do wedding dress alterations. She was a member of DIG (Daughters of Industrious Grandmothers) and she loved to participate in the Secret Pals.
Jewell was baptized by her Grandpa Watkins when she was 7 years old in a country creek near Avard, OK. Jewell was a member of the Methodist church.
Jewell was preceded in death by her husband Elbert Hull, parents Merl and Icena Watkins and brothers Bob and Don Watkins.
Jewell is survived by her daughters Linda Stevens of Stillwater, OK; Sandra Girton of Gage, OK; and Debra Shadid of Edmond, OK. One son Elbert Hull of Woodward, OK.
9 grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
