Jimmie Don Steinle, beloved son of John Henry and Virginia Faye (Thompson) Steinle, was born on April 25, 1952, in Higgins, Texas. He passed away peacefully in Amarillo, Texas, on May 15, 2024, at the age of 72. Jimmie spent his childhood in the close-knit community of Higgins, where he attended the Baptist church, he was a believer in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He affirmed his faith through baptism at the hospital in Amarillo. His early education took place in the Higgins Public Schools, and he completed his senior year at Shattuck High School, graduating with the class of 1970. In February of 1971 Jimmie answered the call of duty and joined the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country as an aircraft mechanic. He received his honorable discharge February 10, 1977. Following his military service, Jimmie began a career as a chemistry technician in the oilfield industry. His work led him to various locations, including Wyoming and Louisiana. Upon his retirement he returned to reside in Higgins with his partner in life, Bonnie Huber.
Known for his meticulous nature, Jimmie was an avid tinkerer and 'fixer upper', always working on projects until they were just right. He found great joy in listening to old music on Sirius XM Radio and was a proud member of the NRA. His immaculate 1995 red Chevy Corvette stood out as his pride and joy.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerry Steinle, his brother-in-law Rex Barton, grandparents Rhinehart and Bertha Steinle, and other loved ones. His memory will be cherished by his life partner, Bonnie Huber and his children, Sandra Moore and Deborah Olson. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Sharla Bradshaw and J.T., Dan Benge and Danna, and Brad Benge and Stacey, as well as six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His sister, Carol Barton, nephew Garrett Barton and Nadine, other relatives and friends.
