IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jimmy Darrell
Mcintosh
January 24, 1940 – June 18, 2022
Jimmy "Jim" Darrell McIntosh of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on June 18, 2022, at the age of 82.
Jim and his twin sister, Judith, were born at home on January 24, 1940, in Kansas City, Kansas. He attended school in Kansas City, and during those years, Jim cultivated a love for animals that would continue throughout his life. Over the years you could find him rescuing wounded wildlife and releasing animals back to nature once they had recovered. After school he entered the trades and was a meat cutter with the Amalgamated Meat Cutters Local 576 working in the greater Kansas City area.
Jim met his beautiful wife, Jettie, through mutual friends from church. Jim and Jettie were married on December 27, 1964, at Central Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City, Kansas. They were blessed with one daughter. Jim and his family were active members of Shawnee Church of the Nazarene in Shawnee, Kansas where he was an enthusiastic church greeter, director of church visitation and a joyful volunteer in the senior ministries (Prime Timers) program.
Jim loved Jesus. He also loved people. His love for others inspired him to give back to his community in ways that brought joy. During holidays and special events, you could always find Jim in one of his handsomely bespoke costumes as the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus or "Jimbo" the clown, making his amazing balloon creations. He passionately wanted people to know the truth. He received recognition for his support and contribution to the American Cancer Society Stop Smoking Program. Most of all, Jim wanted people to know about God's love and forgiveness. He never shirked away from sharing the Gospel of Christ. Jim leaves this world a richer place for sharing his generous spirit, his kindness, his humor, his boldness and his gratefulness to God.
Jim was predeceased by his father, Erastus Jones McIntosh; mother, Rosanna Helen (Lawson) McIntosh; sisters Judith Carroll Culbertson and Jo Ann Barber; and brother Billy Arnold McIntosh. He is survived by his wife, Jettie (Belew) McIntosh; his daughter, Melissa McIntosh Landis (husband Brett); his grandchildren, Tristan Alexander Landis and Madison Melind Landis; brother Gary Lee McIntosh (wife Linda); and seventeen nieces and nephews.
