John Earl Ball was born April 24, 1944 at Woodward, OK., he was one of ten children born to George O. Ball and Josie Mae (Fothergill) Ball. He passed from this life April 15, 2018 at Woodward, OK., just nine days before his 74th birthday.
John grew up on the family farm and attended grade school and high school at Sharon, OK. graduating with the class of 1962. On January 9, 1965 John was united in marriage to Marilyn Ann Pummel at the Bible Baptist Church in Woodward, OK. Two sons, Michael and Mark and one daughter, Jonna Kaye blessed their home.
John and Marilyn lived in the Woodward area before settling on the family farm east of Sharon, OK. in 1970. A farmer and cattleman, John was a good steward of the land and took pride in his livestock. Ball Farms was a true family operation. He was a good friend and neighbor, honest and helpful. A quiet man, John was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his kids and grandkids, the great grandkids were extra special.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Josie and his beloved wife, Marilyn. Three brothers, Wilfred, Billie Bob and Roy and three sisters, Willamae Selby Stanley, Audrey Crites and Betty Jo Davidson.
Those surviving and cherishing his memory are his children, Jonna Kaye Schmidt and her husband Mike of Sharon, OK., Mark Allen Ball and his wife Shannon of Sharon, OK. and Michael Ball and his wife Diana of Woodward, OK. Seven grandchildren, Kristen Walters and her husband Todd of Woodward, OK., Kara Schmidt and Katelyn Schmidt of Sharon, OK., Garrett Ball of Sharon, OK., Chandra Flynn and husband Damion, of Sharon, OK., Haley Yarbrough of Oklahoma City, OK., Kelsey Boekhaus and husband Chase of Ulysses, KS. and five great grandchildren. Three sisters, Norma Story and husband Jerry of Sharon, OK., Patsy McDaniel of Vici, OK. and Ramona Jackson of Woodward, OK. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, a special friend, Patti Kliewer of Fairview, OK., other relatives and a wide circle of friends.
