Obituary

John Allan Brosh Sr. was born to John Wilson and Gwendolyn Adele (McLain) Brosh on July 7, 1943 at Shattuck Hospital. Raised on the Family Farm northwest of Shattuck with his four older sisters and younger brother he would attend Ivanhoe School for one year before the district consolidated with Shattuck Schools from which he graduated in 1961. He then went on to attend Oklahoma State University in Stillwater for 3 years. His career in the Oilfield actually began with odd jobs when he was 14. After college, he worked his way through the ranks of Worm, Roughneck, Driller, and Tool Pusher to Consultant and maintained that role until his retirement.

In his earlier years, he and his brother Joe had great times bird and raccoon hunting together, especially when they could take their sons and nephews. He loved fishing, reading, and was an avid learner. For many years he worked day and night in the oilfield and never shied away from hard work in order to provide for his family and prepare for buying his farm and cattle. John was married to Barbara Kay Bullard and became stepfather to Grace. To the union was born John Allan Jr. and Madge Charisse. John, his mother Gwendolyn, John Jr. and Madge lived in Woodward, Oklahoma for many years, where he met Linda Case and they had one daughter, Lindsay Marie.

After his children were raised, he moved to Shattuck where he lived until his death. In these later years, he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and brother, visiting with friends at Ed's Cafe, and raising livestock. Hunting in his retirement years changed to include porcupine and raccoon that were hurting his cattle - he enjoyed handling this problem on his own.

John was raised a Christian and Baptized as a young man and was a member of the American Simmental Association.

John passed from this earth on January 28, 2018 while at his home in Shattuck. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Gwendolyn Brosh, four sisters, Norma Jean Brosh who died at the age of 3, Carol Ann Thomas, Stella Beth Bruce, and Shirley Madge Sobolik, son John Allan Brosh Jr., and nephew Joseph Louis Brosh.

He is survived by daughters Madge Brosh of Shattuck, Lindsay Cordell and husband Jesse of Tuttle, step-daughter Barbara (Grace) Sweatt of Enid, Granddaughters Bethany McKinney and husband Michael of Shattuck, Loganne Charmasson of Oklahoma City and Narissa Cordell of Tuttle, Grandsons John Allan Brosh Smith and Jayke McLain Brosh, Great-Granddaughter Madge Werve, Great-Grandsons McKale and Brayden McKinney, Sister Anna Mae Shatto of Fort Worth, Texas, Brother Joseph Brosh of Elk City,  numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. He is also survived by his very loved dog, Gwennie Brosh of Shattuck, who some considered his favorite daughter.

John will be greatly missed but we all have many wonderful memories to hold onto.
