John Leroy File, eldest son of Kenneth Lee and Billie Ruth (McCleery) File was born March 14, 1952 in Shattuck, OK. He passed from this life September 17, 2022 in Oklahoma City, OK. at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 3 days.  John grew up in the Fargo, OK. community and was a baptized member of the Fargo United Methodist church. He worked on the family farm south of town and attended Fargo public schools where he was active in FFA and was the valedictorian of his graduating class. Following graduation he attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK. and Panhandle State University in Goodwell, OK.  In 1971 he was married to Donnita Fleming and they were the parents of two sons, Bryan and Cody.  In later years he was married to Jan Johnson.

Living the western lifestyle was an important part of John's life. He enjoyed participating in rodeo events and working with livestock from cattle and horses to show calves and pigs. In 1989 a life changing accident caused John to spend the remainder of his life in a wheelchair. With grit and determination and loving care and patience from his family and others he faced the challenge. He was an avid hunter, raised bird dogs and continued farming and ranching and Fargo was always home.

John is survived by his mother, Billie Ruth File of Shattuck, OK., his son Cody Wayne File of Clinton, OK., his brother Clay File and wife Christie of Fargo, OK. and his granddaughter Brennan File of Clinton, OK.   Also, several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth File, a son Bryan File, a brother Greg File and other loved ones including his favorite dog 'Boots'.
