IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Charles
"Jay" Bryant
March 11, 1936 – May 14, 2025
John Charles "Jay" Bryant passed from this life on May 14, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 89. Jay was born on March 11, 1936, at Shattuck Hospital in Shattuck, OK, to Bill and Flora Bryant. He was raised in Arnett, OK, and graduated from Bishop High School with the Class of 1954.
Jay proudly served his country in the United States Army, enlisting on May 7, 1958, and faithfully serving until his honorable discharge on August 6, 1962. Soon after returning home, he married the love of his life, Marybelle Hosier, on January 23, 1963. Together they built a life rooted in love, raising three children: Janet, "Buddy" Jay Warren, and Billy Wade.
Jay briefly served on the police force in Pampa, TX, before the family settled permanently in Arnett. His career was largely spent in the oilfield industry, where he worked across many aspects of the trade. Known for his strong work ethic and hands-on knowledge, Jay's legacy in the oilfield is remembered by many.
Outside of work, Jay had a deep passion for horses and spent countless hours training racehorses and attending races. He found his greatest joy in family—never missing a chance to support his grandchildren at their various events. Jay was also a lifelong member of the Methodist Church in Arnett and took an active role in the church community, including participating in the Men's Club during its time.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Flora Bryant; his beloved son, "Buddy" Jay Warren Bryant; brothers Joe Bryant, Louis Bryant and wife Opal, and Harvey Bryant.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Marybelle Bryant; daughter Janet Bryant; son Billy Bryant and wife Amanda; grandsons Tyler Bryant and wife Nicole (and their children, Norah and Beau), Kyle Bryant and wife Lora, Tanner Bryant, and Trevor Bryant. He is also survived by his brother Billy Bryant and wife Ella Mae; sisters Lauretta McCuistion and Maxine Kennedy and husband Don; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
His steady presence, kind spirit, and unwavering devotion to his family and community will be deeply missed.
