Johnetta LaRee (Elliott) Herber entered her heavenly home on January 7, 2023 in Oklahoma City, OK. at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 15 days.  She was the daughter of John Arthur and Musetta (Smith) Elliott and began her earthly journey in the Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck, OK. on August 23, 1944.  Her childhood days were spent on the family farm near Gage, OK. and she attended elementary and high school in the Gage Public Schools system.  Following her graduation with the class of 1962, Johnetta pursued a career in health care at the Gradwhol School of Laboratory Techniques in St Louis, MO.

On October 28, 1963 in the First Baptist Church in Shattuck, OK., Johnetta was united in marriage to a young man that had worked for her father as a farm hand in 1959, Douglas Ray Herber. They made their home north of Shattuck on the farm and were blessed with a daughter Kathryn LaRee and a son John David.  In 1971 following the loss of their farm home in a fire the family moved to make their home in Shattuck, OK.

Johnetta was a devoted wife and mother and a diligent worker.  She helped manage the family farm, had a career in the lab at Newman Memorial Hospital from which she retired and she also worked at the First State Bank in Gage, OK. for a number of years.

She enjoyed cooking the family's old German recipes and going to Dinner Club with her friends. She looked forward to having tea at Gusto's with her special 'tea ladies' and she was an active member of the TOPS organization.

Throughout her life Johnetta was a woman of faith.  She was baptized at a young age in the First Baptist Church in Shattuck and remained a faithful member.  She was a willing volunteer for numerous activities within the church and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Memories of happy times together will be cherished by her children Kathryn Fuqua and her husband David of Oklahoma City, OK. and John Herber of Shattuck, OK.  Her granddaughters, Sierra Iliff and her husband Colby of Oklahoma City, OK. and their daughters Hayzlee and Brynlee, Lexi Shafer of Oklahoma City, OK. and Ezabela Herber of Gage, OK.  Her sister Fontella Manske of Shattuck OK., her nieces, other relatives and a host of friends.

Upon completing her journey Johnetta joins her parents, John and Musetta Elliott, her beloved husband of 50 years, Douglas Herber and other loved ones.
