Johnny Ray Morgan was born on September 9, 1938 in Harmon, Oklahoma. He went to his heavenly home on December 17, 2010.
Johnny was born to Arnold and Emma Morgan; he was one of 13 children. Johnny went to school in Arnett, OK. He was a wild young man who liked to drive fast and have fun. He liked to go to dances in Arnett, which he usually ended up in a fight. Johnny loved to go hunting and fishing with his brothers and later with his children and grandchildren.
Johnny met Mary Ellen Byrum and they were married on December 20, 1958 in Woodward, OK. When Johnny and Mary were first married he worked for a pipeline company and traveled quite a bit. Johnny and Mary were blessed with 3 children, Gary, Ellen and Martha, but many friends also called him dad or pa too.
Johnny and Mary lived in Buffalo, OK, where Johnny worked for the city of Buffalo and at Doby Springs. In 1979 Johnny and Mary moved to Ft. Supply, OK. Johnny worked for Rhine Drilling, and helped Bill Pauline and Vic Martin get minnows. He also worked for Dennis Schroeder farming around Ft. Supply and Freedom. Sometimes he would take Zachary on the Tractor with him. Then Johnny went to work at Don's Used Cars and worked there until his eyesight got so bad he had to retire.
Johnny was a proud grandpa of 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Johnny loved to spend time with his family and friends, and he was always joking around. Johnny never met a stranger. Johnny also loved to listen to Shattuck football games on the radio.
About 5 years ago Johnny was diagnosed with CLL a type of cancer. Johnny lived at home in Ft. Supply until he went to his heavenly home. His daughter Ellen lived with him and was with him at the last. Ellen said "he was still the same old pa we all knew. He stuck his tongue out at me and smiled." And then he was gone.
Johhny is survived by wife Mary Morgan of Shattuck, OK; son Gary Morgan and wife Billie of Shattuck, OK; Daughters Ellen Morgan of Ft. supply, OK and Martha Morgan of Woodward, OK; Grandchildren Terry Morgan and wife Rachel and their children Nylyssa and Patrick of Helena, OK, Jennifer and Jessie James and their daughter Irelynne Mae of Bethpage, TN, Sally Morgan and boyfriend Brandon Ranate of Edmond, OK, and PFC Zachary Morgan of Camp Casey South Korea; 3 brothers Jim, Donald, and Henry and 2 sisters Dolly and Ula Lea, and many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Emma Morgan; 4 brothers Chester, Arnold Jr., Gene and Duke and 3 sisters Ruby, Hattie and Jane.
