Obituary

Joyce Elaine (Kenrick) Horner was born March 10, 1935 in Vici, Oklahoma to Obed and Glessnell (Wingo) Kenrick. She passed peacefully from this life on April 25, 2010 in Enid, Oklahoma.

Joyce's family made their home south of Vici. Joyce attended school in Vici, graduating with the Class of 1953.

Joyce was united in marriage to Gilbert Orville Horner on July 31, 1954. The marriage ceremony was held in Medford, Oklahoma. Joyce and Gilbert lovingly welcomed the birth of their two daughters; Connie and Glessnell Sue. The Horner's made their home in Enid, Oklahoma for many years but also lived in Canton, Vici and Seiling.

Joyce was baptized at the age of 16. While living in Enid she was a member of the Davis Park Christian Church. She was an active member, teaching Sunday school and helping with Vacation Bible School. While living in Seiling she attended the First Christian Church where she also helped with Vacation Bible School.

Joyce was a devoted mother and loved taking care of her family and participating in all of her girls activities. She received a gold necklace one year, from the local media, for being named "#1 Mom". She worked for a number of years, outside the home, at various jobs and enjoyed each one. Her most favorite work was in customer service at The First National Bank of Enid and Security National Bank of Enid.

Family members preceding her death are her parents; Obed and Glessnell Kenrick; brother, Lowell (Curly) Kenrick; sisters, LaWaive Horner, Wanda Faye Moore, and Rowena Files; and granddaughter, Chelsea Jones.

Loved ones remaining to cherish her memory are husband, Gilbert Horner of Enid, OK; daughters, Connie Bush and husband Terry of Edmond, OK and Sue Staley of Kremlin, OK; granddaughters, Lindsey Staley and Breanna Jones and Bobby Easley, all of Kremlin, OK; great-granddaughter, Laila Easley of Kremlin, OK; brothers, Charles Kenrick of Foss, OK and Joe Kenrick of Enid, OK; sister Billie Mayes of Piedmont, OK; several nieces, nephews, other family and a lifetime of friends.
