Graveside services will be held Tuesday July 7, 2015 at 10:00 am at DeBolt Cemetery, Arnett, Oklahoma.
In accordance with Arvena's wishes, there will be no viewing held.
J. "Arvena" Williams, 89, of Arnett, formerly of Abilene, passed from this life on June 29, 2015. Arvena was born on March 28, 1926 to J. Shaw and Cora Harper in Colorado City, TX. She attended a boarding school in Texas where she earned her high school diploma. Arvena was married for over 30 years to Orville "O. P." Williams. She was very active with the United Methodist Church Women in Abilene, and was known as the "event planner" in her church for putting together dinners, fundraisers, and community participation. Arvena was a die hard "Crafter" who worked with ceramics, macramé, and woodworking projects. She was also a "booster mom" who attended all the games and functions of her children, and would often drive, feed, and house most of the team.
In addition to her parents, Arvena was preceded in death by her husband O.P. Williams, and daughter, Gloria Fisher.
Left to carry her legacy are son, Travis Smith and wife Suellen of Arnett; brother Robert Shaw of Lubbock, TX; six grandchildren, Chris Franklin of Quincy, MA, Clinton Smith and wife Crystal of Walden, CO, Clayton Smith of Amarillo, TX, Paul Smith of Austin, TX, Jessica Shepherd and husband James of Arnett, and Anjuli Smith of Arnett; five great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorial Donations may be made in Arvena's memory to the MD Anderson Cancer Treatment Center c/o Shaw Funeral Home, PO Box 276, Vici, OK 73859.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at DeBolt Cemetery in Arnett, OK with Pastor Paul Stohler presiding. Travis, Suellen, and the family of J. "Arvena" Williams have entrusted her care, service, and burial to Luke Faires and the caring staff of Shaw Funeral Home.
