Juanita Lee was born at Shattuck Hospital on October 7, 1926 to Orval and Louise (Kliewer) Ashpaugh. She passed from this life on September 12, 2014 in Beaver, Oklahoma at the age of 87. She attended a country school between Arnett and Gage until she reached high school. She went to Gage School until her last 2 years of high school and graduated from Darrouzett, Texas in 1944. She was valedictorian of her class.
Juanita married CW (Dub) Herron Jr. on March 27, 1944. They started farming and ranching and lived on the farm where CW was born, located southwest of Follett, Texas until 1949. They worked together farming, raising cattle and horses. They moved into Follett in 1951 and farmed until 1957, then moved to Laverne, Oklahoma. CW started training and racing horses which they both dearly enjoyed and loved. Juanita would work at Cecil Aline's and Sue Mitchell's grocery store in the winters. She worked at Mitchell Grocery for 23 years. They moved to Arnett in 1975 where Juanita's family and parents lived and they continued to raise horses. They retired in 1992 and moved to Beaver in 1999 to be closer to their daughter's family and their grandson Kelin's family. Juanita attended the First Christian Church in Beaver.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Clarence and Junior Ashpaugh; sisters Lola Boyd, Carolyn Chamberlain and an infant sister.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia (Pat) Miner and husband Wendell of Beaver, Oklahoma; grandson Kelin Miner and wife Kelly of Piedmont, Oklahoma; one great-grandson Cody Lee Miner and future wife Taylor Price of Piedmont, Oklahoma; one great-granddaughter Hunter Leslie Miner of Piedmont, Oklahoma; brothers Gene Ray Ashpaugh of Higgins, Texas and Floyd Ashpaugh of Shattuck, Oklahoma; sisters Willa Johnson of Arnett, Oklahoma and LeEtta Appel of Shreveport, Louisiana; other family and many dear friends.
